ABOUT THE GALLERY

‘Seeking the Periphery’ (StP) is a Canadian Contemporary Art Gallery bridging the digital and analogue divide. The energy contained in a work of representation (art) has material agency. Everything contained in the Gallery is a form energy and materiality, including NFTs, ephemera and time-based work.

StP is also a representation, containing energy and materiality. It exists in the digital realm and in real space. The journey begins on land, at the rural landscape of artist Dimitri Papatheodorou: www.theperiphery.ca. Together with collaborators Jack Hache and Stephen Jones, StP shares artistic practices from many peripheries. The Gallery re-represents the work of artists in various ways including physical and virtual exhibitions, artist talks, interviews, text and images. On behalf of the artists, StP communicates artistic intent, research, process, the work itself, and facilitates purchase of the work by collectors.

StP was conceived at the conclusion of an exhibition of the same name at Toronto Metropolitan University, with contributions from over 70 artists.
